Question: Navy wife/question? Hubby is out to sea..I need to pay a light bill before it gets turned off.?
Hubby is gone..need to pay electric bill which is in disconnect mode...going through job change got behind in bills...want to find help through Navy instead of outside source...Hubby already used Navy relief before he deployed to pay off credit to buy our new home...I am home alone with 3 small kids...Most of hubbys pay goes toward mortgage and other bills by allottment.....HELP ME PLEASE SO ME AND MY BABIES WONT BE IN THE DARK.....I will be starting new job soon....How can I get quick and fast help on the military base????
Answer: From my experience in the Navy, the base community prides itself on being helpful to the struggling family. Navy relief will help again but they make you go thru budget and review all over again. You may not want my advice, and I'm sure your husband wont like it, but my commands have always been eager to help young struggling couples. If you know anyone personally and trust them, ditch your pride and ask for a loan from a friend or neighbor. Better yet get him to talk to his chief about the problem and I'm sure they will help you. Depending on the chief they may make him take budgeting classes, but I know they praise sailors for asking for help and punish sailors for waiting till problem gets to their attention by another means. Like a letter of indebtedness. You dont want that, trust me!
