Robert Shiller Subprime Solution

Question: What caused the rise in American home prices in the late 1990's, and why did they plummet after that?

I'm currently reading 'The Subprime Solution' by Robert Shiller for a class and must have gotten lost when he explained this. Thanks for any help!

Answer: Let me get this straight. You've read an explanation in a book but you didn't understand it. Now you want use to explain it to you again, without knowing what you did and didn't understand? A little self-centered, no?
