Question: is it risky to have a large amount of money in a money market account ?
with all the news about the subprime market and the economy being an inexperienced investor. whats a safe to learn if you are a beginner ?
Answer: Money market accounts are not completely safe, but the safety depends on how the managers have invested the money. Some are safer than others. Those that invest in government paper are certainly safer than ones that might buy paper of less sound companies. Generally, what usually happens is that the sponser adjusts the monthly interest rate downward to maintain the $1.00 asset value if certain of their investments should prove less than anticipated.
